NetBSD/sgimips
The sgimips port is for SGI hardware using MIPS processors. Currently the port has support for the Personal IRIS (4D/30 and /35 only), IRIS Indigo, Indigo2, Indy and O2. All systems have been discontinued by SGI.
NetBSD was the world's first Open Source operating system running on Silicon Graphics O2.
Buying an SGI Indy
Since these machines are not being built anymore, your best chance to get one, is to look at eBay. Another fantastic place for SGI hardware is Ian's SGI Depot at http://www.futuretech.blinkenlights.nl/sgidepot/ . You can also ask for Indys on the NetBSD mailing lists.
