Improving NetBSD
From NetBSD Wiki
This page contains some brainstorming and developer interviews about the improvement of NetBSD

Interviews with developers

- Read an Interview with Iain Hibbert
Improving the development
- A "Task Force" group of collaborating developers to revive or continue stagnating work and to initiate new work.
- A NetBSD-conference ("NetBSDcon"). Could be a "virtual" net-meeting event like the IRC-based Hackathons, to discuss various "papers", ideas, concepts or models handed in by developers and users. Could also be a "real-live" meeting (national and/or regional), but that needs sponsoring and more organizational work.
- More transparency about what's going on in NetBSD development. Improving the communication between the NetBSD decision makers and the developer community. For an example of the problem see the discussion about the integration of newlock2: "the path from nathanw_sa -> newlock2" Blair Sadewitz suggested to establish "some sort of referendum system" based on gnats and Tinderbox
Improving the documentation
- Hubert Feyrer suggests "MoinMoin Wiki" for easier working with DocBook, see his mail to netbsd-docs@
- Read this mail to netbsd-docs@ about Hubert's idea for a "wiki frontend to htdocs".
- Mike M. Volokhov suggests an initiative for a new NetBSD or a general BSD Documentation Framework. See also BSDDF:Main.
