Goals (pkgsrc)

The major goals of pkgsrc are:

  • To provide a simple to use package management system.
  • To run on as many platforms as possible.

Minor goals are:

  • To detect and fix bugs in popular open source software.
  • To educate the software developers to write portable code (this is much work).
